Folk Festival and Lots of Roots Ensemble Gigs!
This summer has been full of fun concerts! In ten days the Deep Roots Ensemble did eight concerts. We were super busy and these concerts were filled with laughter, joy, and great audiences.
In June I performed in my home town of Madison, Wisconsin with the Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society. This was another busy week, but it’s always so nice to be home and perform with musicians I grew up admiring. Taylor and I went to Madison a week early so we could visit with my parents and go on Bill Malone’s radio show on WORT! The best quote from this interview/performance was after we played Taylor’s original song “Love Letters” (from our album “Songs from the Bitterroot”) and Bill said, “If that ain’t country then grits ain’t groceries.” We can’t wait to watch the Ken Burn’s documentary on American Country Music that Bill is heavily featured on!
I’m about to start my final year of my doctorate which will come to a conclusion with a final recital! I’m still thinking about repertoire.
