New piano trio and possible recording project

Lots of exciting things are happening as the new semester starts here at Stony Brook. The Deep Roots Ensemble has begun to work on some of Buddy Miriam’s tunes and we have the first half of our recital well on it’s way! I’m also excited to announce that I have formed a new piano trio with violinist Lucia Kobza and pianist Dasha Bukhartseva. We have been invited to participate in Colin Carr’s piano trio seminar this semester.

I have decided to take an extra year in order to complete my doctorate and make an album of my own. I have always been fascinated by pieces that are rarely performed or recorded, particularly by female composers. So I thought why not make an album full of pieces by female composers! The list I came up with includes recent Pulitzer Prize winner Du Yun, baroque composer Elisabeth Jaquet de la Guerre, and Joan Tower. It will be very interesting to see where this project goes!

On a slightly more personal note…Taylor asked me to marry him!
